Overview

Light Domain trades the Cleric’s reputation as a pure healer for an aggressive radiant/fire blaster that still keeps the class’s support toolkit in reserve. Built around Warding Flare, Radiance of the Dawn, and Potent Spellcasting.

Subclass Features (baseline, not guide-dependent)

Ability Scores

Wisdom is the clear priority across every source — push toward 20 by level 12. Constitution second, for concentration saves and HP.

Race & Background

No strong consensus on race — different guides suggest High Elf (a bonus cantrip), Gold Dwarf (extra HP), or Asmodeus Tiefling (fire resistance), among other vanilla BG3 races. Any of these work; treat race as a flexible, flavor choice rather than a build-defining one.

Background: Acolyte is the more commonly recommended pick (thematic fit, useful skills), with Sage/Folk Hero/Guild Artisan cited as viable alternatives.

Feats

War Caster at level 4, then Ability Score Improvement (+2 Wisdom) at levels 8 and 12 — a common, sensible sequence: War Caster protects your Concentration (e.g. on Spirit Guardians) and the ASIs push Wisdom toward 20. Resilient (Constitution) is a reasonable alternative for concentration-save consistency.

Key Spells

Playstyle

Open fights with Radiance of the Dawn or Spirit Guardians for free/sustained AoE radiant damage, layer in Sacred Flame (boosted by Potent Spellcasting) between bigger spells, and use Warding Flare reactively to protect squishier party members. Healing spells stay in the kit for emergencies, but this build is played as a damage-dealer first.
